A Journey Through Deconditioning in Business

If you’ve ever started a business, chances are you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of YouTube marketing gurus, business coaches, and social media experts all chanting the same mantras:
“Be consistent!”
“You HAVE to show up on social media!”
“Find a popular problem and give people a solution!”
“Create a client avatar!”
You know… all the things. And like a good little entrepreneur, I tried them all. I followed the formulas, implemented the strategies, and did everything I was supposed to do. But here’s the thing: I hated it.
I’m not a professional marketer. I don’t even enjoy social media. Yet, I kept pushing through, thinking this was just the “work” I had to do in order to reach the part of my business that actually lights me up. Because that’s the message we’ve all been conditioned to believe, right? “Do what you hate so that one day you can do what you love.”
But lately, I’ve been sitting with this belief, and let me tell you—it’s total B.S.
Why are we conditioned to believe that success must come with struggle? Why do we feel like we have to grind through things that drain our energy just to earn the right to do the things that fuel us? It’s not just generators (the doers)—it’s all energy types. This conditioning is baked into society, telling us that stress, burnout, and forcing ourselves into boxes that don’t fit are all just part of the journey.
And yet, what has that really gotten us?

More stress. Declining health. Shrinking creativity. Exhaustion masked as “hard work.” It’s almost like we have to lessen ourselves in order to eventually expand. But what if that’s not the way?
So, how do we decondition from this?
This is exactly where I’ve been and what I’m working through. You’ve probably heard me say, “If you don’t like where you’re at in life, you are the one who can change it.” So, here I am. Taking my own damn advice.
This blog, Conditions of My Life, is my way of bringing awareness to these invisible rules we’ve all been playing by. Not to shame them, not to declare them “wrong,” but to expand the conversation. Because while these strategies may work beautifully for marketers, business coaches, and social media experts—what about those of us who don’t fit inside that box?
The world is always expanding. Life is always changing. So my question is: How are YOU going to change and expand with it?
I invite you to question what you’ve been told, to explore what actually works for YOU, and to start shedding the conditioning that dims your light. Because success isn’t about force—it’s about alignment. And I, for one, am ready to build my business my way.
Are you?
