The Act of Taking a Break
There are moments in life where you don’t realize how much you needed something… until you’re in it.
This past weekend,
I gave myself permission to step away—not just from being a mom, not just from being a wife—but from the constant responsibility of holding everything together.
And if I’m being honest… I don’t do that often.
But this time, I said yes.
Yes to getting out.
Yes to being with a friend.
Yes to experiencing something new.
Yes tome.
And what unfolded felt… magical.
I got to reconnect in a way that felt both grounding and expansive. There were pieces of Filipino culture woven into the experience that touched something deeper in me—something familiar, something that felt like home in a way I didn’t expect.
I allowed myself to slow down. To receive. To be guided through meditation. To laugh. To just be without needing to produce, fix, or manage anything.
And in that space, I realized something important—
Taking a break isn’t just about stepping away from responsibilities.
It’s about steppingback into yourself.
It’s about loving yourself enough to create space for joy, for rest, for connection… in ways that actually align with you.
Not what looks good.
Not what’s expected.
But what feels true.
This was a reminder that I’m allowed to experience life too—not just support everyone else in theirs.
And maybe you need that reminder too.
You don’t have to wait for the perfect time.
You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to justify choosing yourself.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do… is simply say yes to the invitation.
To pause.
To receive.
To live a little.
